The Advanced 1 English (ENG7) course is a structured academic English program designed for students who have developed solid B1-level skills and are ready to refine their ability to communicate with greater fluency, precision, flexibility, and critical awareness in social, professional, academic, and community contexts.

The course follows a spiral progression model, integrating:

Conversational English for sustained and spontaneous interaction in complex discussions that require explaining, justifying, evaluating, formulating hypotheses, and developing opinions in depth
Grammar instruction designed to reinforce mastery of the perfect and progressive aspects across all tenses; expand the use of modal verbs to express inference, speculation, obligation, and nuance; and develop the precise use of complex sentence structures, including embedded clauses and various types of subordination
Academic and functional literacy skills for reading, writing, summarizing, editing, and organizing well-developed academic texts consisting of several paragraphs and short essays, commonly used in workplace, postsecondary education, and social integration contexts

What are your expectations for this course?

Frequency: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
Course duration: 3 consecutive months, without breaks
Duration of each class: 90 minutes
Instruction hours: 58.5 hours total
Number of students: Small groups, maximum of 15 students.
A minimum of 6 students is required to open the class.
The maximum number of students allowed is 15 per section.
